Josef Gregory Mahoney is a professor at the School of Politics and International Relations of East China Normal University, executive director of the Center for International Political Studies, founder and director of the International Politics Graduate Program, vice president of the Singularity Institute of Politics, deputy editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Chinese Political Science (SSCI journal and ranked first in this field according to JCR), and co-editor-in-chief of the ECNU Review. He is also a professor of Marxism at the School of Marxism, Southeast University, a senior researcher at the Institute for the Development of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, a top think tank in Jiangsu Province , and a senior researcher at the Hainan Zhongjinying Peace and Development Foundation (one of China's leading security think tanks) .

As one of the most influential foreign scholars in China's international communication field, he has published more than 200 academic articles and has been interviewed more than 800 times by mainstream media around the world, including CGTN, CCTV, Bloomberg, BBC, Russia Today International and TRT World. He is a regular contributor to China Radio International, participating in the Beijing Time and World Today programs, as well as the Behind the Scenes program of RTHK in Hong Kong. He has co-written and hosted 9 documentaries on Xi Jinping Thought, Marxism and grassroots democracy in China with BRTV. He is also a regular contributor to the South China Morning Post and Beijing Review, among others. He was a member of the Chinese team that translated Jiang Zemin's Selected Works into English, and later served as a senior researcher at the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau (CPC Compilation and Translation Bureau), a leading think tank in Beijing. He teaches a seminar course on Marxism at East China Normal University, with a research method that emphasizes dialectical materialism and historical materialism. His recent research includes China's rise as a technological society. His current book project, Understanding Ukraine with Chinese Marxism, focuses on the relationship between the Russo-Ukrainian War and climate change. Prior to pursuing his PhD, he was a public health officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC/ATSDR).

约瑟夫・格雷戈里・马奥尼是华东师范大学政治与国际关系学院教授、华东师范大学国际政治研究中心执行主任、国际政治研究生项目创始人兼主任、奇点政治研究院副院长、《中国政治学期刊》(SSCI 来源期刊,JCR 该领域排名第一)副主编、《ECNU Review》编辑。同时,他还担任东南大学马克思主义学院马克思主义理论教授、江苏省顶尖智库 —— 中国特色社会主义发展研究院高级研究员,以及中国领先安全智库之一 —— 海南中金鹰和平发展基金会高级研究员。

作为中国国际传播领域最具影响力的外籍学者之一,他发表了 200 余篇学术论文,接受过包括中国国际电视台(CGTN)、中国中央电视台(CCTV)、彭博社(Bloomberg)、英国广播公司(BBC)、今日俄罗斯国际通讯社(Russia Today International)、土耳其国家广播电视公司国际频道(TRT World)在内的全球主流媒体超 800 次采访。他是中国国际广播电台的常驻撰稿人,参与《北京时间》《今日世界》等节目,并为香港电台(RTHK)的《幕后》节目供稿。他与北京广播电视台(BRTV)联合撰稿并主持了 9 部关于习近平思想、马克思主义及中国基层民主的纪录片。此外,他还是《南华早报》(South China Morning Post)、《北京周报》(Beijing Review)等媒体的常驻撰稿人。他曾是《江泽民文选》英译项目中国团队的成员,后担任北京顶尖智库 —— 中央编译局(中共中央编译局)的高级研究员。他在华东师范大学开设马克思主义专题研讨课程,其研究方法强调辩证唯物主义与历史唯物主义。他近年的研究方向包括作为科技社会的中国崛起;目前正推进的著作项目《用中国马克思主义理解乌克兰》,聚焦俄乌冲突与气候变化的关联。在攻读博士学位前,他曾担任美国疾病控制与预防中心 / 有毒物质与疾病登记署(CDC/ATSDR)的公共卫生官员。
